After the round you will enjoy lunch at the club, before getting on the road. Your driver will take you via parts of the Wild Atlantic Way, passing Cliffs of Moher, on your way to Sligo where some much needed recovery at a spa hotel is awaiting you.

Day 5: Transfer to Rosapenna & St Patricks Links

Enjoy your breakfast before continuing the scenic road trip via Gleniff Horseshoe and Classiebawn Castle on your way to Rosapenna. Check in at the Bay Hotel in Downings and head to Rosapenna for your twilight tee time at the #44 course in the world - St Patrick’s Links.

Day 6: Transfer to Portrush & Royal Portrush Golf Club

Saturday is here, and it will be one of the best days of the trip. Enjoy breakfast at Rosapenna before checking out and taking the 2 hour drive to Portrush. In Portrush you will check in to the luxurious five star hotel Portrush Adelphi. Enjoy lunch in Portrush before heading to Royal Portrush to the Dunluce course at Royal Portrush. Another sunset tee time aways you as you tee off at 15.48, setting you up for a close to religious experience as the shadows become increasingly long coming down the legendary par 3 16th hole - Calamity Corner. What you decide to do next with your Saturday in Portrush is completely up to you and your group. But we would strongly recommend to head straight to The Harbor Bar in Portrush for a well-deserved pint of Guiness.

Day 7: Portstewart Golf Club & Transfer to Newcastle

Take the morning to recover from the Saturday in Portrush as the Adelphi, or visit the oldest licensed distillery in the world - Bushmills - for a guided tour before having lunch at Portstewart to tee off at 13.40 at what might just be the best first 9 holes in all of golf - Portstewart Strand. The massive dunes on the front 9 will test every part of your game and the redesigned finishing holes from 2026 promises a great ending to the round. Grab something to eat and get ready for a scenic trip that will partially take you via the A2 Coastal highway and the north east cost of Ireland on the way to Newcastle and Royal County Down, where you will check in at the famous Slieve Donard hotel.

Day 8: Royal County Down Golf Club & Goodbye

You have arrived at the final stop of our journey - Royal County Down. The best links course in the world. After breakfast at the Slieve Donard, you make the iconic walk from the Slieve Donard to your 08.43 tee time. Common Questions

How physically demanding is this itinerary, and are the courses walking-only?

Yes, particularly on Day 3 when you play 36 holes split between Trump Doonbeg in the morning and Lahinch Old in the late afternoon. Courses like Royal County Down, Ballybunion Old, and Portstewart Strand feature dramatic dune terrain with significant elevation changes and deep rough. While carts (buggies) can occasionally be requested with a medical certificate, these classic links are best experienced walking, so comfortable, broken-in waterproof shoes and solid physical conditioning are essential.

What are the caddie policies and typical fees across the courses?

Caddies are mandatory for visiting golfers at Lahinch Old, Ballybunion Old, and Royal County Down. At Doonbeg, Old Head, Portstewart, Royal Portrush, and St Patrick's Links, caddies are optional but strongly recommended due to blind lines, hidden pot bunkers, and complex coastal winds. Bag fees generally range from £75 to £90 in Northern Ireland and €90 to €130 in the Republic, plus customary cash gratuity.

What specific gear and luggage should I pack for this trip?

Bring a dedicated pencil bag or lightweight stand bag, as many clubs do not permit large cart bags or tour staff bags on the turf. You will need top-tier Gore-Tex rain gear, windproof layers, thermal base layers, and multiple pairs of golf gloves and socks. Given the exposed coastal locations from Old Head to the Causeway Coast, sudden squalls and dropping temperatures are common regardless of the month.

How much travel time should we expect between the different regions?

While private driver transfers handle all the logistics between stops, Ireland and Northern Ireland feature narrow regional roads and winding scenic routes. The transition from Kerry to Sligo on Day 4 is a long travel stretch following your morning round at Ballybunion, balanced by a stay and recovery at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa. Similarly, the drive from Downings to Portrush takes about two hours, and the trip from Portrush down to Newcastle takes approximately 2.5 hours.

Are handicap certificates checked, and what skill level is recommended?

Most clubs on the itinerary require an official handicap index, typically capped at 18 to 24 for men and 24 to 28 for women, and starter desks at Royal County Down, Ballybunion Old, and Royal Portrush will occasionally ask for proof. Blind tee shots, towering dunes at Portstewart and Lahinch, and firm, punishing runoffs require consistent ball-striking and creative links play rather than sheer distance.

What are the dress codes on the courses and in the clubhouses?

Traditional golf attire is required at all clubs: collared shirts tucked in, tailored golf trousers or shorts, and soft-spike golf shoes. Traditional clubs like Royal County Down and Lahinch have strict clubhouse policies regarding changing shoes in the locker room rather than the parking lot. For evenings at venues like Slieve Donard or the dining room at Doonbeg, smart casual attire (no golf gear or denim) is expected.
