T Golf Calvià, originally Golf de Poniente, is one of Mallorca's older serious golf designs. John Harris's 1978 routing moves through undulating land in the island's southwest, with mature pines, changing elevations, lakes and notably generous green complexes. After a substantial renovation, the club returned with a renewed emphasis on presentation while retaining much of its established parkland character.
There is a gentler rhythm here than the open, windswept setting of Alcanada, although the breadth of the fairways is not a promise of simple golf. A lake can interrupt an inviting line, and the contours around the greens make it important to choose an approach position rather than swing immediately at every flag.
Why You Should Play T Golf Calvià
Calvià is rewarding for players who enjoy the balance between a confident drive and an intelligent second shot. The routing's natural hills provide variety and a useful feeling of separation between holes. A wider landing area may be the right choice, but its relationship to a green-side bunker or water hazard can make a bolder line more attractive.
The size of its greens is a distinguishing feature. A ball safely on the putting surface is not always an easy two-putt, and a misplaced approach may leave a delicate recovery. Some holes feel sheltered by pines; others open towards the Tramuntana landscape, changing how the golfer reads wind and elevation.
The tenth is a useful glimpse of Harris's design personality, bringing several hazards into one hole without reducing the entire course to a signature-photo exercise. Calvià is especially suitable for golfers who like established Mediterranean parkland and want a round with enough freedom to play positively while retaining meaningful strategy.
Course History and Design
The course opened as Golf de Poniente in 1978 and was later substantially renovated and rebranded T Golf Calvià. Its original John Harris architecture should not be confused with T Golf Palma, which is a separate property and course. The change of identity refreshed the clubhouse and course conditioning without turning it into a newly built 2010s resort.
Mallorca Golf Trip Planning
Golf Son Gual is a more modern and expansive inland test east of Palma. Alcanada lies in the north and offers lighthouse views above the bay. Calvià belongs to a Palma/Son Vida or southwest-base golf day, not an excursion to be casually inserted between two rounds on the island's northeast coast. A carefully chosen base creates more enjoyment than collecting three geographically distant tee times in two days.
With a base around Palma or Son Vida, Calvià and Son Muntaner fit into a compact southwest-island golf stay. Son Gual adds a more expansive modern inland test, while Alcanada and Pula are better treated as a northern or eastern stage of a longer trip. The restored course and its established Mediterranean planting make Calvià a welcome choice for players who prefer traditional parkland character over open coastal scenery.
Scorecard and Visitor Play
T Golf Calvià is par 72, with White tees at 6,450 metres, Yellow at 6,080, Blue at 5,620 and Red at 5,195. Four different lengths give golfers a useful choice between a serious long-game test and shorter approaches to Harris's broad, well-defended greens.
The course welcomes visitors through its tee-time booking programme. Golfers without Spanish federation membership pay a €3 daily golf licence or insurance charge. Calvià is a separate course from T Golf Palma, and the two-round package offered across both properties is distinct from a single round at Calvià.
